Stitching

Stitching

I think I fixed my upload size problem. . . . Nope. WP resizes my images! Actually it makes copies in various sizes, but won’t allow a full size image. I tried a direct link. They have not always opened because my webhost doesn’t allow direct (non html) links. Even on the same site, it doesn’t work all the time. I was working on this a few days ago and didn’t get back to it, but until I figure out…

Christmas?

Christmas?

Well, yes. If I want to make anything, I need to get started. I saw this cute box design (Just the black and white. Color design added because, although I have the right to use this design, I don’t have to right to give it to anyone.) at DesignBundles and wondered if it would make a decent stitched box. I grayed out the side flaps because I’ll be stitching, not gluing, those edges. The flaps on the lid remain so…

Food

Food

I cooked yesterday. I spent about three hours. The food cooked longer. Because I wanted to make a good batch of spaghetti sauce, I hunted down tomato puree. What is it about Salem that no one carries more than a very few cans of puree?! There were two cans and no marked place for them where I finally found them. I guess there are too few Italian cooks here. I finally snagged two large cans and three tiny ones. It…

Hot! Hot! Hot!

Hot! Hot! Hot!

I know it’s hotter in other parts of the country, but it’s more like when we lived in Virginia than ever. Part of the reason we moved here was to get away from the heat and humidity. At least the humidity isn’t bad here. Why am I cooking on the hottest day so far this month? I was going to make three dishes for the freezer, but I may not. Our a/c is temperamental. I don’t want to stress it….

Not the Hottest Day This Week

Not the Hottest Day This Week

But still too hot! We went to the mall for me to order new glasses, and then stopped at Fred Meyer’s for some fresh vegetables and canned tomato puree and cream. Both of us were wiped out when we got home two hours after we left. Of course partly it was because the a/c in my car died last month. But still! 75° = perfect 85° = hot, not bad for summer 90°s = too hot, miserable, but I’ll live…

Blah

Blah

’21/08/05 That’s how today feels to me. I have so many things I could be doing, plenty of things I should be doing, even things I want to be doing… ’21/08/09 I think that’s when I went out to water the garden. And that’s kind of how my week/weekend went, although I did manage to get out and water plants again on Sunday. And on Friday I went to see my brother’s new home. Along with the watering one day,…

Turquoise Was the Answer

Turquoise Was the Answer

But not a total frame of turquoise. I just needed to replace the blah blue with the turquoise. I also need to add some to the right side, with stitch, beads, or whatever. Wow! this is a wonky cloth. I may know how to do curves and turns, but not necessarily well. Oh well, I’m enjoying it and learning to do better (I hope!). Today I spent three hours watering everything. It is so dry here! 98% of the lawn…

Just Playing

Just Playing

Some time ago I read about piecing curves and decided to try it. I put together a few pieces of fabric and, since I had no plan or project, that was that. I may or may not have taken a picture. (I need to file all my saved photos together someday.) Last week, I was looking for something to stitch on and found that pieced patch. I started stitching without taking a picture. When I thought about it I’d already…

Almost Done

Almost Done

After a week of struggling with computer issues (now corrected) and not being particularly active, I was very happy to work outside, yesterday. I used to work outside every single day. I don’t know what in me has changed. What keeps me inside so often? Anyway, I remembered to take a stiff brush out with me and I cleaned a load of bricks. Now … The patio is laid! I also moved my bench and my potted clematis, and repotted…

A Patio

A Patio

Acting on the premise that an improperly laid patio is better than no patio at all, and the fact that we’ve had these bricks waiting for ten (10!) years, I determined to make my patio. I started just before the heat wave and got as far as this. Today, I got this far. I haven’t decided which is harder–scraping the dirt to make it relatively even or bending in the sun to clean dirt and moss off the bricks. And…
