Solar Powered

That’s me. And it’s never so obvious to me as in late spring, with Oregon’s on and (mostly) off sunshine. On a sunny day I can get right to things. On a cloudy day, with or without rain, it takes half the day to get revved up. It does not help that my inner two year old controls my sleep pattern. 1 am: “I need to go to bed.” “No!” 2 am “I need to go to bed.” “No!” 3…

My View

My View

For some reason, or maybe not, I started to take photos of my view when it caught my eye from my chair. Last night I thought I should put them together. Since I simply did a zoom, point and shoot with no plan for them, they did not line up well at all. It made me kind of dizzy looking at them even after turning, stretching and shrinking them to line up as much as possible. In the end I…

Spring Mountain

Spring Mountain

This started out as an abstract background from Creative Fabrica. Rather than shrink it to the size of my canvas, I simply cropped it. This isn’t what I planned on doing, but it’s what I saw in the abstract design. I started with this: It was about 3000 pixels wide. I divided it into a 9-patch and used the upper left patch. After I cropped it, I lightened it. That’s when I “saw” my image. I canvas-ized the image, but…

Playing

I was reading blogs yesterday and Dee mentioned the Paris Collage Collective. I didn’t know what that was, so I looked it up. I ended up downloading this week’s picture and played with it all evening. Technically, I didn’t really do a collage. I did, however work with multiple layers, cutting out and repasting sections and adding multiple filters. I used the comic book filter, which smoothed and intensified the colors, and added relief light with very low smooth light,…

Weird Problems

Weird Problems

If only these were the worst problems people had. Since sometime in the summer or fall of 2020 airynothing.net* has been giving me problems with images. I’ve been back and forth with the web hosts about it. They are working on it, but with covid, everything goes more slowly. Today I wanted to upload an image to show what I’ve been doing, but since it’s a huge animated gif, I knew I couldn’t upload it directly to wp. I went…

Just Playing Again

Just Playing Again

Sometimes/always there are other things I could/should be doing, but my inner two-year-old takes over and apparently has no adult supervision. I managed to dry one load of clothes (washed the previous day), but I made a lot of kaleidoscope designs. This started out as an abstract bird design. I deleted the background color, then used painting/color abstract paint/comic book (and other) filters (each separate) modes with two of the above (various combinations) sharpen filter symmetry kaleidoscope filter (10 divisions)…

Goodbye, 2021

Goodbye, 2021

Alex came home on the 19th. I don’t get on the computer much when he’s here. We didn’t do much other than enjoy being together. Of course, we did watch a lot of movies and a TV series or two. Baahubali was a two-part movie (about 2 1/2 hours each). It’s an Indian mythic story and was a lot of fun to watch. Hausu (House) was, as IMDB put it, “the most bizarre Haunted House movie I’ve ever seen.” Andhadhun is another…

Jack-o-lantern

I tried to stitch it out today. I’m soooo frustrated. My machine’s tension is off. It’s not something I can fix because it’s automatic tension adjustment. Sewing machine shop is closed on Mondays, so tomorrow I’ll find out how long it’s going to take to get it’s annual checkup. I’m uploading the design anyway. If you download it, it NEEDS to be test sewn. That’s because, just maybe, my digitizing program has a problem instead of my machine (or maybe…

Finally!

Finally!

I’ve been planning to offer free machine designs for more than a year. I’m often playing with the digitizing program, and am almost constantly downloading licensed or copyright free graphics (for digitizing and journaling). I’ve also been constantly distracted or having to put it lower on the priority list. Last night I finally got to organizing my Airy Nothing Designs folder. And, typically ADD, I didn’t get very far, but . . . it was because I immediately found a…

Flowers

Flowers

A large part of the last two weeks has been spent on filing. Oh so FUN! Actually, I don’t mind and I think I’m finally getting the machine embroidery files organized. Although I keep finding unzipped files and duplicate–lately in folders I thought I’d completed. Being a free design junkie and having gone crazy when I first got my embroidery machine, I have way more designs than I’ll ever get to. It’s taking forever and while I don’t mind, it…
