Today

I had decided on Monday that I would write a little here each day. Ha! The thing is that if I actually do something to write about, I don’t manage to get here. And if I don’t feel like doing much, that often includes writing here. Monday was Croissant Day. We “celebrated” by having roast beef on croissants for dinner. (Actually, Iqbal wanted that before we knew it was Croissant Day.) I forgot to check what Tuesday and Wednesday celebrated….

I Am an Amalgam

I Am an Amalgam

I was going to say conglomerate But amalgam fits better For me it’s various sources and various kinds. I am so “this and that.” Because of that, I’m pulled in different directions. Sometimes I feel like the hapless fellow in the old Tarzan movies who had each limb tied to a different elephant, each sent in a different direction. (Well, not quite that gruesome.) Some people can say “I am a writer,” or “I am an artist,” or scientist, or…

Stoopid Statins!

Stoopid Statins!

I woke up again today feeling like I worked all night swinging a rock crusher. That led me to spending the last three hours searching fatigue and muscle fatigue. I’m not sure what led me to the connection, because no one seems specifically to include it on a list of causes. Nonetheless, it’s very clear to me. It started shortly after I started taking statin medication. It grew worse over time, though eased considerably when I was off statins. Which…

Ah, 2023!

Ah, 2023!

I was trying most of December to get here, but December is always the most stressful month for me, and this year I was host for Christmas dinner, which didn’t help alleviate any of it. Alex was finishing final papers until the day he flew out here, so he was a bit stressed, too. But then he was able to relax once he got here. Actually, so did I, partially. Iqbal’s always relaxed. We watched several movies and a lot…

Halloween

Halloween

Yes, I know it’s over now, but I only just got to this digital collage tonight. This was created with GIMP. The frame, mat and lightning were created with the G’Mic add on. I painted the clouds with a couple of basic GIMP brushes. The rest of the images came from Creative Fabrica. I didn’t have a picture in mind. I merely had a feeling I wanted to express. My favorite part is the cat. She seems to be serenely…

Suddenly September

Suddenly September

And as seems to have become the norm, I haven’t done half the projects I planned for summer. That’s the only thing I hate about getting older–not having the energy or stamina to work physically from eight or nine in the morning until three, four or five in the afternoon. Yesterday I worked outside for about ninety minutes, and though the temperature was only low 80°s, I was wiped out. Still, I did manage to plant the candytuft Debie gave…

Another Week Went Poof!

Another Week Went Poof!

I’m a homebody. I have ADD. I’ve done nothing this week because I’ve had appointments and have been pulled away from my routine (such as it is) by those, and other things, every day. My introverted homebody-ness borders on being a hermit. I’m able to go for a long time with no more outside contact than occasional texting. I’m not really sure how long, and it probably varies because I do like and need human contact sometimes, but I get…

Art

Art

My mind is swirling. Oh! How I wish I could type as fast as I think, or even talk as fast as I think. So much gets lost in the translation. Jude posted her definition of Art which led to a lively discussion. Marti included a link to a similar long-ago discussion and I read that all too. I looked up the dictionary definition of art. I like Jude’s better. It’s clearer to me. I also liked Nancy D’s definition…

August Already??!!

August Already??!!

1:00 p.m. I think a month goes by as fast as a week (or less) used to. I never get used to it. I can remember when summer lasted a long time. Now it seems like the other three seasons together go by faster than summer used to go. I’m in a mood, today. Woke up that way. I can’t remember enough of my dream to know what set it off, but waking up cold did not help. I’ve come…

It’s Hot Outside

It’s Hot Outside

And I’m cold because when the temps are above 90°, Iqbal needs the a/c on. It’s not set too low the way most commercial places seem to be, but even 75° seems cold when you’ve been out in 90°. I don’t understand how someone who grew up in India without a/c can’t take any heat. Of course, he feels cold when outside temperatures fall below 65°-70°, too. Work on the sewing room goes slowly. That’s partly because I get distracted….
