Monday, Monday… Oh! It’s Tuesday
Since last I posted I changed my background and header. My plan was to make it autumn-y, but I saw the blue cacti and fount the site where I made the fancy-font title, so I went with it.
Saturday my brother came by and chose a (very) few pears. By Sunday, so many had become ripe, I started making pear sauce. These pears a perfect for that 99% of them have to have wormy bits cut out, which makes them not exactly good for simply picking up and eating. But all of them (except a few that overnight were way beyond ripe) have good parts, most more than 50% good. It was worth cutting and cooking them. Pear sauce is delicious.
Later Sunday, my sister Debie came and chose some pears for herself and some friends. I still have loads left. I was going to stitch the rest of the day, but Debie and I went to JoAnn’s. As usual, she got a lot more than the zippers and D rings she went for. I just went for company, but I ended up with some beads and some hemp cording I want to try embroidering with.
I don’t know what happened to Monday. My son woke me up at about 11:30 and we ended up yakking until I asked him to be sure he got to class on time. He started to say he had plenty of time, but then saw he had to leave right away. By the time I got out of bed and bath, it was after two! I guess I just puttered my day away, because I can’t think of anything except practicing drawing cats last night. And after two a.m. being frustrated that I still hadn’t got around to stitching again.
Today I made a much larger pot of vegetable (with a little leftover beef) soup than I’d intended. I also made another pot of pear sauce. The rest of the pears will be dried. They’re really good that way, too.
I worked on this on Friday, and a little bit on Saturday (and a very little before dinner on Sunday while the soccer game 2nd half was on).
It doesn’t look like I did a whole lot, but the top edge of the pink lace was couched down with knotted cable chain and two of the stems on it with chain stitch–all in variegated metallic thread. I also finished tacking down the white lace and added a medallion with bullion stitches on it. I want something, along the far right seam, in turquoise. This is such a random piece. Nothing about it has been preplanned. I rather like that, but I do seem to spend a lot of time figuring out what I want to do where. I also keep wondering if it’ll look as random as it is when I decide I’m finished. And I don’t even know it that’d be good or bad.
Distracted as I write here, I now know exactly what I’m doing it the green space above the pink lace. One of the really wonderful things about computers is the ability to draw and paste on a picture, quickly, and to be able to erase without leaving a trace
