Just Stitchin’

Just Stitchin’

… and some unstitching, too. This is a really bad photo because I took it on the kitchen table in mid-late afternoon sun. The shadows are horrible. (Well the shadows are actually great, but they make the photo horrible.) I don’t have any idea where I’m going with this. I picked up the center scrap with the intention of trying Jude’s multi line stitching. Rather than split stitch, I’m using stem stitch. For some inexplicable reason (probably just the first…

Afghan

Afghan

Since I mentioned it last night, I took a picture of my progress on the Afghan. It is far, far from perfect, but will still be warm and cozy when done, so I consider it not bad for my very first. I put the green pencil on it to give an idea of the size. This is approximately 3/5 done. I just started on the fourth jumbo skein Sometime in 2023 I might start a flower granny square Afghan. I…

Not Much . . .

Not Much . . .

. . . going on here. At least not much really interesting. I got more RAM for my laptop. Lack of adequate RAM was indeed the main cause of the constant folder crashes as I tried to file. Windows 11 is still not as good as Windows 10, but at least I can work now. Weird! When I wrote the title of this post, I looked up (out the window) and saw a white plane, possibly having taken of from…

Beautiful Visions, Poor Eyesight

Beautiful Visions, Poor Eyesight

I spent this afternoon stitching and was reminded why I haven’t done much stitching (or reading) this summer. I can’t see worth beans! My eyes are so slow at focusing. Today I used the magnifying glass on my craft lamp. That’s a pain in the tush. I had my glasses on, but had to have the magnifying glass at just the right distance. Too close or too far was blurry. Just right was great! I threaded a small needle on…

Monday It took me two full afternoons to read through my list of Ragmates blogs. This is not because I was so far behind. Or because Ragmates are wordy writers–some post very infrequently and the daily posters don’t usually ramble on as I usually do. No. It’s because they all seem to stir my imagination and/or curiosity. I started reading these blogs through Spirit Cloth . . . Tuesday Obviously, this is what I did today. Wednesday Today I was…

Another Week Went Poof!

Another Week Went Poof!

I’m a homebody. I have ADD. I’ve done nothing this week because I’ve had appointments and have been pulled away from my routine (such as it is) by those, and other things, every day. My introverted homebody-ness borders on being a hermit. I’m able to go for a long time with no more outside contact than occasional texting. I’m not really sure how long, and it probably varies because I do like and need human contact sometimes, but I get…

August Already??!!

August Already??!!

1:00 p.m. I think a month goes by as fast as a week (or less) used to. I never get used to it. I can remember when summer lasted a long time. Now it seems like the other three seasons together go by faster than summer used to go. I’m in a mood, today. Woke up that way. I can’t remember enough of my dream to know what set it off, but waking up cold did not help. I’ve come…

It’s Hot Outside

It’s Hot Outside

And I’m cold because when the temps are above 90°, Iqbal needs the a/c on. It’s not set too low the way most commercial places seem to be, but even 75° seems cold when you’ve been out in 90°. I don’t understand how someone who grew up in India without a/c can’t take any heat. Of course, he feels cold when outside temperatures fall below 65°-70°, too. Work on the sewing room goes slowly. That’s partly because I get distracted….

Solar Powered

Solar Powered

That’s me. And it’s never so obvious to me as in late spring, with Oregon’s on and (mostly) off sunshine. On a sunny day I can get right to things. On a cloudy day, with or without rain, it takes half the day to get revved up. It does not help that my inner two year old controls my sleep pattern. 1 am: “I need to go to bed.” “No!” 2 am “I need to go to bed.” “No!” 3…

70!!!

70!!!

I look in the mirror and remember my grandma at 70. Nope. My mom? Maybe . . . not. And I certainly don’t feel 70. The only giveaway to me is how quickly I tire, but I truly believe that has more to do with being out of shape than being 70. I’m working on that, so we’ll see. I don’t really expect to get all my old strength back, but I’m pretty sure, as I get back to more…
