HOT!!

HOT!!

Tuesday 8/15 As I type, it’s 101° outside. If I could simply sit quietly in the shade, it wouldn’t bother me. It’s very dry heat. However, I had to water some pots. They were the ones in the shade. (Those in the sun will get water after dinner.) That helped, but still, just walking around dragging the hose was a sweaty experience. it was nice to be outside despite the sweaty heat. Sunday was hot outside, too, but I wore…

Garden Work Is Never Done

Garden Work Is Never Done

I always plan to write something here every day, but then I get distracted. I guess I shouldn’t compare myself with my younger self, but it seems I get so little done. These sentences don’t seem quite related, but they are. I’ve always been distracted, but I used to move from one thing to the next and manage to spend enough time on each to have accomplished something by the end of the day, or the end of the week….

Experiments!

Experiments!

I’m always curious about the naturally dyed fabrics I see online, but I’m not really interested in becoming a dyer. I am up for a little experimenting, though. One day last week I was picking up two fallen, spent gloxinia blossoms and thought wouldn’t these make a pretty fabric color? Why not see? So I boiled some water and put the blooms in and mashed them around and poured it into a jar with a bit of muslin. The color…

As If I Didn’t Have Other Things I Should Be Doing

As If I Didn’t Have Other Things I Should Be Doing

After reading Dee’s blog (Pattern and Outrage) I followed her link to The Paris Collage Collective. One picture caught my eye. It wasn’t for this week, but I’m not sure what week it was. I had planned to stitch, but I ended up digitally collaging instead. Apparently my dislike of freeways isn’t only about not liking to drive. The first image is just variations of the original, I ran the original through several G’MIC filters, picked five, and put one,…

Hot!

Hot!

Monday Although, according to my sister, it should be mostly raining through June here in Western Oregon, today is a wonderfully, beautifully hot, summery day. I have discovered in the past few days that my energy levels for outside work have dwindled a lot more than I realized. Yesterday I was watering the garden pots and nearly passed out before I was finished. I came in before I passed out, but, even though I wasn’t overheated, I was totally exhausted…

I Can Laugh . . .

I Can Laugh . . .

. . . but I have never figured out the “get rich” part. Today is Laugh and Get Rich Day. Since I last wrote . . . Yes, I got distracted. Nothing new about that. The most amazing thing happened. I got distracted by stitching! Machine stitching–embroidery. The machine is running as I type. Barring any problems, I should be able to type through each color. I’m trying to finish a snowman afghan for my sister. So far, so good….

Not Much . . .

Not Much . . .

. . . going on here. At least not much really interesting. I got more RAM for my laptop. Lack of adequate RAM was indeed the main cause of the constant folder crashes as I tried to file. Windows 11 is still not as good as Windows 10, but at least I can work now. Weird! When I wrote the title of this post, I looked up (out the window) and saw a white plane, possibly having taken of from…

Monday It took me two full afternoons to read through my list of Ragmates blogs. This is not because I was so far behind. Or because Ragmates are wordy writers–some post very infrequently and the daily posters don’t usually ramble on as I usually do. No. It’s because they all seem to stir my imagination and/or curiosity. I started reading these blogs through Spirit Cloth . . . Tuesday Obviously, this is what I did today. Wednesday Today I was…

August Already??!!

August Already??!!

1:00 p.m. I think a month goes by as fast as a week (or less) used to. I never get used to it. I can remember when summer lasted a long time. Now it seems like the other three seasons together go by faster than summer used to go. I’m in a mood, today. Woke up that way. I can’t remember enough of my dream to know what set it off, but waking up cold did not help. I’ve come…

Too Much Happening

Too Much Happening

Tuesday we had our GabCraft meeting. Rather than work on our macramé, we did string art. It was difficult, mainly because the “instructions” were horrible. Kris, who had the most complex design, was actually missing half of hers. Not that they would help much. Elaine (Kris’s BFF) had the best directions. After saying how to do it, which none of us understood, it said “Or use your imagination and be creative.” So she just did what she felt like doing….
