Christmas?

Christmas?

Well, yes. If I want to make anything, I need to get started. I saw this cute box design (Just the black and white. Color design added because, although I have the right to use this design, I don’t have to right to give it to anyone.) at DesignBundles and wondered if it would make a decent stitched box. I grayed out the side flaps because I’ll be stitching, not gluing, those edges. The flaps on the lid remain so…

Blah

Blah

’21/08/05 That’s how today feels to me. I have so many things I could be doing, plenty of things I should be doing, even things I want to be doing… ’21/08/09 I think that’s when I went out to water the garden. And that’s kind of how my week/weekend went, although I did manage to get out and water plants again on Sunday. And on Friday I went to see my brother’s new home. Along with the watering one day,…

Turquoise Was the Answer

Turquoise Was the Answer

But not a total frame of turquoise. I just needed to replace the blah blue with the turquoise. I also need to add some to the right side, with stitch, beads, or whatever. Wow! this is a wonky cloth. I may know how to do curves and turns, but not necessarily well. Oh well, I’m enjoying it and learning to do better (I hope!). Today I spent three hours watering everything. It is so dry here! 98% of the lawn…

Almost Done

Almost Done

After a week of struggling with computer issues (now corrected) and not being particularly active, I was very happy to work outside, yesterday. I used to work outside every single day. I don’t know what in me has changed. What keeps me inside so often? Anyway, I remembered to take a stiff brush out with me and I cleaned a load of bricks. Now … The patio is laid! I also moved my bench and my potted clematis, and repotted…

A Patio

A Patio

Acting on the premise that an improperly laid patio is better than no patio at all, and the fact that we’ve had these bricks waiting for ten (10!) years, I determined to make my patio. I started just before the heat wave and got as far as this. Today, I got this far. I haven’t decided which is harder–scraping the dirt to make it relatively even or bending in the sun to clean dirt and moss off the bricks. And…

Summer

Summer

On the first day of summer 2021 I was frozen. Really! I had to stay inside as I was doing a colonoscopy prep, and it was near 100° so Iqbal turned the a/c on. My den just kept getting colder and colder. By bedtime I wanted winter blankets. Yesterday I closed the a/c vent and the door and opened the window. Much better. Today the a/c is back off and all the windows are open and it’s an absolutely beautiful…

Not a “Daily [Anything]” Kind of Gal

Not a “Daily [Anything]” Kind of Gal

I tried to be. I’d like to be. But I’m just not. (5-21-21) It’s been over a week since I typed that. Apparently I’m not a “Weekly [Anything]” kind of gal either. What I’m really not, is an “Organized [Anything]” kind of gal. And I’m not sure why I opened this blog. My lack of organization means I have nothing prepared. Since I wrote here last: I worked in the backyard–cut the branches of the weed trees hanging over the…

In the Garden

In the Garden

That’s where I spent my afternoon. Mostly it was just pulling ivy out of areas I don’t want it growing. When we first came here, it filed the front corner garden, along with a lot of other overgrown weeds. It took us a while to clear that space. Over the past two or three years it started creeping back in. This is the corner garden. Most of what I pulled out is in the pile in front of it. A…

Mostly Cleaning

Mostly Cleaning

First, some business (though I doubt those who need to read it will.) I did not intend to spend my time here reading meaningless comments. I used to have a capsha option, but I no longer do (or I can’t find it) so I needed to put comments on moderation until I can figure it out. I appreciate a genuine compliment as much as anyone, but I’m not looking for compliments . . . especially on my “great blog,” “wonderful…

Rose Roots

Rose Roots

Today was so nice, I had to go out. I managed to get the roots growing outside the pots trimmed on half the rosebushes. I hope it wasn’t too much or too soon. Only two were heavy roots. We’ll see. Hopefully, within the next two weeks I’ll also be able to repot these bushes–same pots, but more dirt. It’s amazing how much dirt washes away with rain and watering.
