Complicated
When I first put a blog on my website, I simply downloaded b2Evolution, spent a little time learning how it worked, and had a blog I loved. Somewhere along the line it “upgraded” to something I couldn’t figure out without some serious coding classes. Since my blog had become so outdated that I couldn’t do anything, I reluctantly deleted it and installed WordPress.
I’ve never been particularly happy with WordPress. In b2E I could do whatever I wanted to do. Not in WP. In WP I can’t format a page or post for poetry without that stupid gray background. My pictures are limited in size, even though I have an unlimited website. I have to go around Robin Hood’s barn to post full size photos. I can’t use different fonts. I can’t even highlight and drag a word or phrase to a new position in the editor. The worst thing to me is that I can’t make pages mine at the source. I have to use the templates.
I don’t need my blog to create my website. I created the website before it had a blog, so there’s a lot of extraneous stuff on WP (maybe on b2E now, too). WP seems to assume my blog is a business, which it definitely is NOT. Why isn’t there just a blog for those of us who prefer that? I do use the pages and media cache because they’re there (and WP won’t let me post a picture from my main website media folders). ::sigh:: Oh, well.
Today I got a bunch of notices to fix things. One was that the “abandoned cart” something-or-other wasn’t working. I don’t have carts! How could one be abandoned? Why would I need/want the something-or-other?
It also keeps telling me that Imagick (something to do with resizing pictures) is missing or disabled. It was, but it’s not now, and I still get that message.
Also, today, for the first time, there was a message saying that although my page loaded quickly enough, I’m lacking a proper cache plugin. How have I managed the past three years without it?
ADD strikes again! I spent about 80% of my afternoon looking for a way to make my own blog (not gonna happen unless I want to learn a whole lot more coding than basic html and I don’t) and another 20% looking for and at graphics and downloading a bunch. At least the graphics weren’t frustrating.
Now I’m going to go play with those graphics and maybe make some bookmarks.
We got some much needed rain, today, but I think not really enough. I do love the sunshine, but the heat, sun and wind is hard on flowers– especially the potted ones.

I actually have two blogs, one at Blogger and the other at WordPress, because neither one does everything I want … taking the path of least resistance, but yeah, I share your frustration that there isn’t a better option …
Thank you. It’s good to know I’m not the only one, I have two other blogs–one on blogger and one at LiveJournal. I guess Tumblr is a blog, too, so that makes three blogs I 99% ignore. LOL
