I doubt I’ll be doing one a day and I didn’t use wrap\/satin stitch (as Jude<\/a> did). Because of the size (the base of a 5000 meter spool of machine embroidery thread–maybe about two inches), I thought chain stitch would be good. I was hoping for a more random variation with the thread, rather than the look of concentric circles (it’s actually a spiral), but that would probably require shorter color variations on the thread, and\/or a much larger circle. I like it anyway… especially the tactile quality, No idea how\/where I’ll use it. Just the idea of growing a collection of them feels good.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Natural light today was pretty dismal. We needed lights on all day. Not great for pictures. I tried to fix them, but only made them worse, so these are the originals–flaws and all.<\/p>\n\n\n

As I was stitching, I thought about using dots for my TAST sampler. Also as I was stitching, I came up with some ‘what if’ ideas like: What if I did a running stitch or rope stitch between the chain rows? What if I use variations of the chain stitch? OH! Magic stitch! –In two solid colors, or or irregularly, rather than every other stitch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’d like to get my chain stitches to look alike–more even, same size, but also thought that having the same number of stitches in each round, making them smaller in the center, larger on the outer edge, it would make it it more regular for further embellishment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
