The Breakdown

Trouble was brewing, though we knew it not.
For a time we laughed and joked,
blissfully unaware of the tally kept
for our indiscretions. The tricks we played
turned against us and began to taint
the trip until terror held us in its
icy hands, and our laughter mocked us.
