One Year Later
April 1, 2004


Raindrops fall in a gray fog.
Daffodils nod their bonnets in response.
The pit-patter is accompanied by birdsong,
distant rumbles
subdued, intermittent.

Like the earth, my heart is saturated.
Words well up in the overflow.
Tears mingle with music,
discordant tones
muted, subsiding.

I await the sunshine.
