Only a little imagination with this. Mainly, I just kept up.

Stitch 67: Fancy Hem Stitch

A couple of practice rows at the top and then I thought it might look like bamboo, so I made the trees. They look more like palm trees, to me.

Stitch 68: Slipped Detached Chain Stitch

I made some flowers and then this made me think of bugs, so I added bugs to the chain stitch scroll I'd done to try out a new thread. I also used this stitch for some of the leaves on my bamboo trees above.

Stitch 69: Buttonholed Double Chain Stitch

As sometimes happens, I skimmed through Sharon's instructions too quickly and didn't get it right the first time. I kind of like the wrong one as much as the right one, though... At least once it started to look neat and not messy.

Stitch 70: Crested Chain Stitch

I did the stitch, but just this little bit. :(

Stitch 71: Bullion Buttonhole

Bullion Buttonhole
This is another where I've done the stitch, but didn't really experiment with it. (Although I just had an idea I want to try.) The pink yarn is a new knitting/crochet yarn I just got. It turned out to be fluffier than I realized. That's what the blurriness at the top of the middle bullion is--fluff!

The current sampler, so far: (click for a larger, clearer view)

I don't have any plan for my samplers. I do whatever catches in my brain at the moment. I end up with a mix of doodle cloth and sampler. I think I've most enjoyed the detached buttonhole stitch. It took forever, but I love how the pinecone came out. And the tree stump. I have plans for that pinecone... well, not that specific one, but I did it to see if it will work on something else I'm doing. I think it will as long as I use the right size thread and plan it out a little. And the right color. I like the golds and browns, but a real pinecone is not as gold as this in my experience.

Be sure to check out PinTangle for more examples of this stitch.
