TAST - Crossed Buttonhole

I made it a point to do some TAST this week. I still have a couple weeks to catch up on, but this is the current stitch.

The pale vertical stitches are done in a single strand of floss. It's two rows with the tops together.

The red and blue are done in size 5 craft thread with one arm of the cross short and one long. I wanted to see how they crossed when I stitched tops together like I did the first part. For the last four stitches of the red, I switched the long and short arms to see how that would look.

Then, since I'm fond of circles, I drew some and stitches the crossed buttonhole in a circle. First I did the orange and yellow. It reminded me of a spirograph, so I extended the stitch inward and did the red and burgandy. This is all wicking thread. I started to fill the center with French knots and still have a lot to go.

Finally I did a simple row in size 5 craft thread alternating a short cross with a tall cross. I think this is my favorite. I had a few ideas of how to add other stitches that I will add after this row, when I get back to it.

Right now I'm working on a different kind of sampler that I decided I would give to my friend when I'm finished. Her birthday is friday, so I want to finish it by tomorrow so I can send it to her. I'll post a photo when I'm done (tomorrow, I hope) because she doesn't have or want a computer, so I don't need to worry about her seeing it ahead of time.
