Reorganizing

No stitching today -- yet. I hope to do some cross stitch when I finish here, before I go to bed.

What I have been doing is reorganizing my sewing area. It simply has not been comfortable and only barely functional.

This is how it was arranged:

You can click on this to enlarge it if you can't read my little notes. Essentially, what they say is that everything was all over the place. You can also see that I didn't have a lot of room to move my chair. It looks like a lot of work space, but the table covered three feet of the counter top, since I have only about seven feet in that direction. And the table was constantly being loaded with piles of fabric, sewing and needlework books, magazines and catalogs, and a lot of random stuff, too.

So, after getting a large portion of the fabric put away in the new cupboard, I decided to see what I could do. I thought I was going to have to move the counter around, but, fortunately, I didn't have to.

This is the arrangement now:

Now, all of those three drawer cupboards that were facing away from the sewing area (or, at least, accessible only by going around the tables) are under the counter. I didn't think to take before photos (and couldn't find any that showed what I want), but I do have a during photo. Please ignore the mess. I will have it cleaned and nice pictures tomorrow or the next day.

I have also regained the three feet of counter that were under the table. And there are more cupboards under the counter and table. I put the ironing board in the laundry room. I have a small wall ironing board that folds down that I may put on the small table, unless I can find a way to hang it that doesn't look bad.

I can't remember what else I was going to say. Oh, the letters!

  • a = embroidery machine
  • b = sewing machine
  • c = felting machine
  • d = computer monitor

Now for a bit of cross stitch.
